First baking session with the two big sissys was an accomplishment woohoo!
Mission: Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting
So, I rushed back hone on Friday to the awaited baking date with my older sisters. It was my first attempt of piping as well. I was so excited!
As it was a new recipe that we were attempting, we had to keep re-assuring that the measurements and weighing of our ingredients are right though we had a +/- for some as we wanted to make necessary modifications to suit our taste-buds.
With Nandy's Guidance, we managed to complete the batter and attain the desired coloured that we wanted. It took us awhile to get the appropriate colour as we used a mixture of coloring and gel this time and it was pretty interesting to see the incorporation.
Just to be cautious, we only tried baking one cupcake as our first batch and it had turned out to give a texture that was too crispy like a biscuit. HAHA. We figured that we need to reduce the temperature and increase the timing a little and did so for the next batch. Guess what? It was perfect.
Hehehe. Although we were up till 2am baking and icing the cupcakes, we had so much of fun and laughters. It felt relieving for my inner self. We did go crazy with the piping and started creating our own "masterpieces" towards the last few cupcakes. Well, you can't stop this kind of things, you know?
The cupcakes were so delicious, and the cream cheese frosting was even good. It was sweet and we added pure vanilla beans which made the frosting taste like Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice-cream. I can feel the cupcake and icing melting in my mouth just as I type this. I am snacking on it for breakfast today and I am sure this is not my last share for the day. ;)
Definitely going to attempt this soon and parcel some for my loved ones. At the same time, I can't wait for my next baking sesh with the sisters.
Alright, I shall continue indulging in my cuppycake. :D
Lots of love,
